How a move to Cornwall runs
We load the whole house on day one while the roads are quiet then run down the M5 and A30 overnight or early the next morning so delivery starts fresh. Summer traffic through Devon and around Bodmin adds real time in July and August so we build that into the plan rather than promising an arrival we cannot keep.
A free video or home survey comes first. It tells us the volume the dismantling and the access at both ends and it is what turns a rough range into one fixed written price that does not change afterwards.
Cornish access and lanes
Half of Cornwall sits behind lanes that were never built for an 18 tonne lorry. Granite walls high hedges and passing places every few hundred metres mean we often plan a shuttle with a smaller van from a nearby lay by or farm gate. That gets decided at survey so nobody is stuck reversing half a mile on the day.
Harbour towns such as St Ives Fowey and Mousehole have loading restrictions and steep cobbled approaches. We check the parking rules with the council in advance and arrange a bay suspension where one is available.
Second homes holiday lets and part loads
A lot of Cornish moves are not whole houses. If you are furnishing a cottage or a holiday let a part load shares the vehicle with other consignments heading the same way and you pay only for the space your goods use.
We also handle the reverse trip. Downsizing out of Cornwall back up country runs on the same vehicles and the same fixed pricing.
Packing storage and the extras
Full packing wraps the whole house including the kitchen and the loft. Part packing covers just the fragile items such as glass china mirrors and pictures. Materials are included and we collect the empty cartons once you have unpacked.
Beds wardrobes and dining tables come apart and are rebuilt in the room you choose. Storage is there if the completion slips and your goods stay sealed in the same containers throughout.
