How a move to Scotland actually runs
Most Scottish moves are two day jobs. We load the whole house on day one, the vehicle is sealed overnight and the crew drive north early so delivery starts in the morning while everyone still has energy. Smaller flats and part loads can be done inside a single day when the collection is south of Birmingham and the delivery is in the central belt.
A free video or home survey happens before anything is booked. That is where we count the volume, spot the pieces that need dismantling and check the access at both ends, and it is what lets us give you a written price that does not move afterwards.
Scottish property and access
Tenement flats in Edinburgh and Glasgow have communal stairs with tight half landings and no lift, so wardrobes and sofa beds often come apart rather than being forced round a corner. Controlled parking zones in both cities need a suspension applied for through the council and we handle that paperwork as part of the booking.
Rural deliveries in Perthshire the Borders and the Highlands are a different problem. Single track approaches and soft verges mean an 18 tonne lorry sometimes cannot reach the door, so we plan a shuttle with a smaller van at survey instead of discovering it on the day.
Scottish missives and moving dates
Scottish purchases run on missives rather than the exchange and completion pattern used in England, so a cross border move often has two different legal timetables to satisfy. We keep the vehicle and crew provisionally held and confirm once your entry date is fixed.
If the dates do not meet we hold your furniture in containerised storage. Everything is sealed in the same containers at collection and stays sealed until delivery so there is no extra handling and no extra charge for double loading.
Packing storage and the extras
Full packing means our trained packers wrap the whole house including the kitchen and the loft. Part packing covers only the breakables such as glass china pictures and mirrors. Either way the materials are included in the price and we collect the empty boxes afterwards.
Beds wardrobes and dining tables are dismantled by the crew and rebuilt in the room you want them in Scotland. Televisions go in purpose made cartons and mattresses are bagged.
